The Clarinet Lab

Intonation check form · developed by Bernd Schille

How it works

  1. Warm up your clarinet and set your tuner to your usual reference pitch.
  2. For each note with a problem, play it steadily at medium volume and read the tuner. Please also enter 3–4 notes that sound fine.
  3. Enter the value in cents (minus = flat, plus = sharp) or in Hz (the frequency your tuner shows).
  4. Twelfth (optional but very helpful): for the notes with a problem (E3 to F#4 only), play the same fingering with the register key pressed. It sounds a twelfth higher. Enter that reading in the last column. The throat notes G4 to Bb4 are not needed.
  5. Leave all other notes empty and send the form to us by e-mail.
