The COA service is the essential maintenance required to preserve the reliability, mechanical precision, and optimal acoustics of your clarinet in demanding professional environments. Even with meticulous daily care, moisture, natural wear, and temperature fluctuations inevitably cause subtle shifts in both the wood and the mechanism over time.
Rather than an emergency repair, this service represents a proactive approach to maintaining your instrument's performance and value at the highest standard.
Why this service is essential for professionals:
- Mechanical Precision: Minimizing key play and perfectly balancing spring tension ensures an incredibly direct, reliable response—particularly critical during rapid passages.
- Tone & Intonation: Deep cleaning the tone holes and precisely calibrating key heights secures stable intonation and a free response across all registers.
- Wood Protection: Professional oiling of the body protects the wood against cracking and stabilizes the delicate microclimate inside the bore.
- Exclusive Optimization: The selective integration of our proprietary SIGNATI pads measurably enhances acoustic reflection and mechanical reliability.
What the COA service includes:
- Disassembly & Assessment: Complete disassembly of the keywork. Visual inspection for hairline cracks in the wood, checking the condition of the tenon corks, and inspecting the rods and pivots for play or bending.
- Deep Cleaning: Gentle cleaning of the body (tone holes and bore) as well as ultrasonic cleaning of the mechanical components to remove residue and old lubricants.
- Wood Care: Professional conditioning of the body using premium, natural oils for deep impregnation.
- Mechanism & Pad Service:
- Cleaning and fresh lubrication of all rods, screws, and pivot points using specialized, long-lasting oils and greases.
- Replacement of worn pads (up to 2–3 pads included in the service) with our proprietary SIGNATI pads to ensure flawless seating, silent action, and optimal resonance.
- Renewal of key corks and felts where necessary.
- Adjustment & Regulation:
- Precise regulation of all legal and linked keys (e.g., F/C mechanism, ring keys).
- Optimization of key heights for a homogeneous intonation and tonal color.
- Leak light testing and final air-tightness verification under performance conditions.
- Play Testing: Concluding acoustic and response evaluation throughout the entire register.
Recommended Service Interval:
For orchestral musicians, educators, and frequent players, we recommend this service every 12 to 18 months. This regular fine-tuning nips mechanical wear and subtle intonation drift in the bud, ensuring you can always rely blindly on your instrument.
